Health: the Centre Médical de la Communauté (CMC)

Our hospital, the CMC (Centre Médical de la Communauté) is based in Lubumbashi. It offers a wide range of services and care in line with international standards.

In addition to the Lubumbashi hospital, we own and manage health clinics in Kolwezi and Kalemie, as well as Occupational Medicine Surgeries (PMT). At Likasi, we work in partnership with the Sainte-Elisabeth Centre.

The CMC is open to any person needing care. Fees are charged for the centre’s services.  Consultations are held on all working days.

Hospitalisation

Our hospitalisation capacity is 54 beds. The rooms were renovated in 2018 and offer comfort to international standards. A catering service can be organised at the patient’s request.
We offer different types of accommodation:

• Standard room (6-bed dispensary)
• Semi-private room (4-bed clinic)
• VIP private room (2 beds with possibility to privatise the room).

Maternity

Operational since December 2018, the maternity unit of the CMC is supervised by specialised healthcare staff. It has all the necessary equipment to accommodate mothers and newborn babies in optimal conditions of comfort and hygiene:

• 4 rooms with 2 beds
• 1 technical department for emergencies
• 1 neonatal unit
• 1 labour room
• 2 delivery rooms equipped with resuscitation equipment
• 1 operating room for gynaecology/obstetrics.

Medical imaging

The CMC is equipped with a latest generation 16-slice scanner of the SIEMENS brand. At the present time, we are one of the only hospitals of Grand Katanga to offer an immediate interpretation of the protocol by our radiologist. In addition to the scanner, we have ultrasounds and an X-ray system.

Emergency centre

Our emergency service is available 24/7 on +243 (0) 84 189 09 99.
At Lubumbashi, the CMC is the first to offer optimal emergency care. Each intervention is overseen by a specialist emergency doctor and a team of emergency nurses.  If necessary, laboratory tests and medical imaging can be performed. The emergency centre has 2 ambulances.  

The CMC also specialises in repatriations, by ambulance to Lubumbashi or by plane to Johannesburg.
